INDIVIDUAL therapy

$165 / 55 MINUTE SESSION

Sara provides individual psychotherapy for clients seeking Somatic Experiencing.

Rather than fighting against your symptoms of anxiety and trauma, you will learn to explore the messages your body sends with curiosity (including those messages aren’t your favorite things to hear). Even the most uncomfortable feelings will run their course with the right conditions.

Somatic Experiencing is an effective treatment to facilitate nervous system regulation, strengthening intuition and learning to better handle the everyday stresses of life.

I am currently running a waitlist for new individual clients

What are Sessions Like?

Sessions are tailored to the state of your individual nervous system. The pacing, style and depth that which we work at is always your call (and you don’t have to talk about your childhood if you don’t want to!). Whether you’re a first-time therapy goer or someone looking for a new layer of healing, Sara will adapt the space to meet your needs.

Are Sessions In Person or Online?

Currently all sessions are being offered virtually. Rest assured, Somatic Experiencing is still effective when delivered via telehealth. Grab a mug of tea and a blanket to your session as you enjoy being in the comfort of your own home!

How Much Are Sessions?

Initial sessions are $225/60 minutes and subsequent sessions are $165/55 minutes. Some packages are available (feel free to ask about this during your complimentary 15 minute call).

Somatic Psychotherapy Chicago is in-network for Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) PPO. If you have a different insurance company, I provide a monthly superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement, though it is your responsibility to make sure you know your out-of-network coverage and policy.

Payment is due at the beginning of each session. There is a 24-hour cancellation policy, and a $145 cancellation fee will be applied if sessions are cancelled without sufficient notice.

How Do I Pay?

If you have an outstanding balance, payment options are as follows:

  • Zelle/Chase QuickPay to sara@somaticpsychotherapychicago.com (no surcharge)
  • You may request a Square invoice
  • Check made out to Sara Moskowitz, LCSW

SAFE and SOUND PROTOCOL

COST VARIES

What would it be like to walk through your day feeling more calm, centered, and connected? The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is an innovative music-based therapy designed to regulate the nervous system and tone the vagus nerve. SSP is a complimentary therapy and can be done alongside talk therapy or somatic therapy.

SSP involves listening to music that has been specifically created to stimulate the vagus nerve, which plays a role in regulating bodily functions such as heart rate, respiration, and digestion.

For more details about the science behind SSP, please visit their official website.

Sara is currently accepting new clients for the Safe and Sound Protocol.

What Should I Expect As I Listen?

The protocol involves listening to specially designed music with over-ear headphones (that’s right – no airpods!). You will be gradually introduced to different frequencies that train your nervous system to listen for signals of safety. There is a menu of different music styles you can choose from.

Some client finds the music calming, while others find it an intense experience and choose to listen in smaller increments. Your practitioner will work with you to develop a plan based on your specific nervous system.

What Are the Benefits?

Benefits of the Safe and Sound Protocol include:

      • Improved emotional regulation
      • Reduced anxiety and stress
      • Increased social engagement
      • Enhanced overall well-being
      • Reduction of traumatic symptoms

What Conditions Does it Support?

Clinical research has found improvements in clients with the following conditions:

      • Anxiety
      • Trauma history
      • Social difficulties
      • Sensory processing difficulty
      • POTS/dysautonomia
      • Misophonia
      • Mast cell activation
      • Chronic Pain
      • Long COVID
      • Learning disorders
      • And more

What is included in the Safe and Sound package?

The SSP package includes:

  • 55 minute one-on-one intake session
  • 5 hours of listening time*
  • 55 minute debrief session
  • Nervous System Regulating Activities eBook

*Music is divided into short listening sessions – you don’t have to do all 5 hours at once!

Support is available by text and email throughout your experience.

Is it covered by insurance?

BCBS PPO will cover the introductory/debrief sessions, however the music component of the $300 Safe and Sound Protocol itself is not covered by insurance (since technically you are doing the listening on your own and not during a session). Thus, the total price of SSP depends on your insurance situation – please feel free to reach out and Sara will walk you through what your individual pricing will be.
